Proverbs 31 Woman: What Does That Look like

“She’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast for her family and organizing her day. She looks over a field and buys it, then, with money she’s put aside, plants a garden.”(BibleGateway.com)

So here me out. I used the message version for this scripture because I feel that it really puts the scripture in plain English. Before we move on, I want you to read the verse above, feel free to read the scripture in its entirely, but read it and mediate on it.

What revelation did you come to? When I read Proverbs 31, I realized that I was going about my morning routine all wrong. I was getting up early before work or with just enough time to get myself together before heading out, and that was it. I ended up not getting a lot of stuff done because I would be too tired after work to work on myself. And I would honestly just want to cuddle with my son after a long day.

I realized that I needed to be more intentional about how I went about my day. If I was too tired after work to work on the blog or batch content, then I needed to change how I was spending my time. In the first sentence of that verse, it states that the proverbs 31 woman is up before her family and prepares for the day.

Do you know how much stuff you can get done when you have no distractions and how much better you feel throughout the day when you get stuff done?

Amazing and probably easier to get along with.

I know that I am more patient when I not only have time to myself, but also get things around the house completed, as well as things on my to do list. Now lets take a look at the second verse.

This Proverbs 31 woman invests in land, properly saves her money, and reinvests. At least that’s what I’m getting out of this text. You see, God does not want us to be the borrowers, He does not want us to be enslaved to debt. In order to be prosperous, we need to be investing in ourselves and in our financial endeavors. The Proverbs 31 woman is prepared.

Her family is able to live abundantly because she makes a plan for her day. She makes both long term and short term goals that will bring peace and security for her household.

So, again it’s only by being intentional with our time and resources that we will be able to become like the Proverbs 31 woman. I urge you to take this time to write out a list of things you want to accomplish for the week, and each day focus on about three tasks to get done.

Of course this will only work if you get up a little earlir than usual. You don’t have to get up at 4 or 5 am, but try to get up before your household does, and see how much stuff you are able to cross off your to do list before they even wake up.

I promise, you will be amazed.
